Is There a Claim Versus The
Pharmaceutical Company?
Although the newer “atypical”
anti-psychotics, particularly Risperdal, have been promoted as having a
lesser side effect profile, which has lead to much broader uses of the
medicines beyond the traditional indications listed in the PDR and which
has led to diminished monitoring of patients for the early onset of side
effects, experience teaches us that all anti-psychotics cause Tardive
Dyskinesia at an alarming rate of 3% to 5% per year for the older typical
medications (and probably for Risperdal, as well). At McGlynn, Glisson &
Koch, we are currently evaluating and in some cases pursuing the merits of an action against the
manufacturers of these drugs.
A pharmaceutical case versus the manufacturer of
Reglan is also being worked up as is an action against the
manufacturers of Zyprexa due to its increasingly reported
propensity to cause or precipitate Diabetes.
